ESP - (English version below ) -  Hace poco fui invitado a participar en un proyecto editorial llamado “Carnets de la chanson française” (by Jimmy Hublet) , donde realicé una pieza compuesta alejándome un poco de los personajes conocidos. Al día siguiente se me ocurrió improvisar con tinta junto a una modelo fotográfica. La idea era tomar únicamente los elementos esenciales de luz, forma y anatomía para hacer algo suelto y alejado del parecido con la foto. Al día siguiente, coincidiendo con la fecha en que se conmemoraba la partida de Freddie Mercury, hice una pieza, esta vez acercándome al parecido, y salió bastante decente. Los coloco en el mismo post porque, por otra parte, a veces me pregunto sobre la influencia del personaje en la obra en sí. Seguiré insistiendo en piezas que escapen del parecido con la foto para tomar la temperatura de la obra y su lenguaje propio. Saludos, y sigan dibujando y, sobre todo, reflexionando. Dave Mathews captured mid-performance in watercolor — a vibrant blend of gesture, sound and stage presence.

This watercolor caricature of Dave Mathews was part of a special commission by a collector in Denmark. The piece is one of three vertical musical portraits — featuring Dave Mathews, Ludovico Einaudi, and Foy Vance — each captured in the midst of performance.

These original vertical works were reproduced as giclée prints, enlarged to double their size and professionally mounted for display. The horizontal pieces you see were also part of the exhibit, shown in their original format without copies.
